Mario Cortés is a renowned professor and professional in musical theatre with an extensive career in the performing arts. A graduate of Surrey University’s Guildford School of Acting in England, where he earned a B.A. Hons in Musical Theatre, Mario complemented his education with a Filmmaking diploma from the New York Film Academy and specialized training in acting, singing, and voiceover work.

As an educator, Mario has taught a variety of musical theater disciplines, including Acting the Song, Directing Lab, Musical Theatre History, and Acting for Musical Theatre. In 2006, he developed the Musical Theatre Diploma for the University of Music G Martell in Mexico City, a program that continues to be offered today. He served as Director of the Art and Culture Department at Tec de Monterrey Campus Santa Fe for seven years, where he led innovative academic and artistic initiatives that significantly enhanced the institution's cultural impact. Since 2018, Mario has also been part of the faculty at Recrea Teatro Drama School, contributing to the growth and development of aspiring theater professionals.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, Mario’s bilingual and multicultural background enriches his ability to connect with diverse audiences and students. As both a performer and director, he has worked on international and national productions, from UK theatres to the premier stages of Mexico and New York City. This global experience allows him to offer a unique perspective that combines technical excellence, artistic sensitivity, and cultural connection. As an educator, he is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of artists to explore their potential and tell stories that resonate with authenticity and passion.
